1. 1 And Abram went up out of Egypt, he, and his wife, and all that he had, and Lot with him, into the South.

   1 아브람이 자기 아내와 자기가 소유한 모든 것과 또 자기와 함께한 롯과 더불어 이집트에서 올라와 남쪽으로 들어갔는데

2. 2 And Abram was very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold.

   2 아브람에게는 가축과 은과 금이 심히 풍부하였더라.

3. 3 And he went on his journeys from the South even to Beth-el, unto the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Beth-el and Ai,

   3 그가 남쪽에서부터 벧엘까지 이동하여 벧엘과 아이 사이 곧 처음에 자기 장막이 있던 곳

4. 4 unto the place of the altar, which he had made there at the first. And there Abram called on the name of Jehovah.

   4 즉 제단이 있던 곳에 다다랐는데 그 제단은 그가 거기서 처음에 만든 것이더라. 아브람이 거기서 주의 이름을 불렀더라.

5. 5 And Lot also, who went with Abram, had flocks, and herds, and tents.

   5 ¶ 아브람과 함께 간 롯에게도 양 떼와 소 떼와 장막들이 있었으므로

6. 6 And the land was not able to bear them, that they might dwell together. For their substance was great, so that they could not dwell together.

   6 그 땅이 그들을 감당할 수 없어 그들이 함께 거하지 못하였으니 이는 그들의 재산이 많아 그들이 함께 거할 수 없었기 때문이더라.

7. 7 And there was a strife between the herdsmen of Abrams cattle and the herdsmen of Lots cattle. And the Canaanite and the Perizzite dwelt then in the land.

   7 아브람의 가축 목자들과 롯의 가축 목자들 사이에 다툼이 일어났고 또 그때 그 땅에는 가나안 족속과 브리스 족속이 거하였더라.

8. 8 And Abram said unto Lot, Let there be no strife, I pray thee, between me and thee, and between my herdsmen and thy herdsmen. For we are brethren.

   8 아브람이 롯에게 이르되, 우리는 형제니 원하건대 나와 너 사이에, 내 목자들과 네 목자들 사이에 다툼이 없게 하자.

9. 9 Is not the whole land before thee? Separate thyself, I pray thee, from me. If (thou wilt take) the left hand, then I will go to the right. Or if (thou take) the right hand, then I will go to the left.

   9 네 앞에 온 땅이 있지 아니하냐? 원하건대 너는 나와 갈라서라. 네가 왼쪽을 택하면 나는 오른쪽으로 가고 네가 오른쪽으로 떠나면 나는 왼쪽으로 가리라, 하니라.

10. 10 And Lot lifted up his eyes, and beheld all the Plain of the Jordan, that it was well watered every where, before Jehovah destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, like the garden of Jehovah, like the land of Egypt, as thou goest unto Zoar.

    10 롯이 눈을 들어 요르단의 온 평야를 바라보니 네가 소알로 갈 때에 보듯이 그 평야는 모든 곳에서 물이 잘 공급되었으며 주께서 소돔과 고모라를 멸하시기 전이었으므로 주의 동산 같고 이집트 땅 같았더라.

11. 11 So Lot chose him all the Plain of the Jordan. And Lot journeyed east. And they separated themselves the one from the other.

    11 이에 롯이 자기를 위해 요르단의 온 평야를 택하고 동쪽으로 옮겨 갔으므로 그들이 서로 갈라서매

12. 12 Abram dwelt in the land of Canaan, and Lot dwelt in the cities of the Plain, and moved his tent as far as Sodom.

    12 아브람은 가나안 땅에 거하고 롯은 그 평야의 도시들에 거하며 소돔을 향해 자기 장막을 쳤더라.

13. 13 Now the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners against Jehovah exceedingly.

    13 그러나 소돔 사람들은 사악하여 주 앞에 심히 큰 죄인들이었더라.

14. 14 And Jehovah said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art, northward and southward and eastward and westward.

    14 ¶ 롯이 아브람과 갈라선 뒤에 주께서 아브람에게 이르시되, 이제 네 눈을 들어 네가 있는 곳에서부터 북쪽과 남쪽과 동쪽과 서쪽을 바라보라.

15. 15 For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever.

    15 네가 보는 온 땅을 내가 너와 네 씨에게 영원히 주리라.

16. 16 And I will make thy seed as the dust of the earth. So that if a man can number the dust of the earth, then may thy seed also be numbered.

    16 내가 네 씨를 땅의 티끌 같게 하리니 사람이 땅의 티끌을 셀 수 있거든 네 씨도 세리라.

17. 17 Arise, walk through the land in the length of it and in the breadth of it. For unto thee will I give it.

    17 일어나 그 땅을 그것의 세로 방향과 가로 방향으로 지나가며 걸으라. 내가 그 땅을 네게 주리라, 하시니

18. 18 And Abram moved his tent, and came and dwelt by the oaks of Mamre, which are in Hebron, and built there an altar unto Jehovah.

    18 그때에 아브람이 자기 장막을 옮기고는 가서 헤브론에 있는 마므레의 평야에 거하며 거기서 주께 제단을 쌓았더라.
