창세기 24장 [킹제임스]

1. 1 Abraham was now old and well advanced in years, and the LORD had blessed him in every way.

   1 아브라함이 나이 많아 연로하였고 주께서 모든 일에 아브라함에게 복을 주셨더라.

2. 2 He said to the chief servant in his household, the one in charge of all that he had, "Put your hand under my thigh.

   2 아브라함이 자기 집에서 가장 나이 많은 종 곧 자기가 소유한 모든 것을 관리하는 종에게 이르되, 원하건대 네 손을 내 넓적다리 밑에 넣으라.

3. 3 I want you to swear by the LORD, the God of heaven and the God of earth, that you will not get a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I am living,

   3 내가 너에게 하늘의 하나님이시며 땅의 하나님이신 주를 두고 맹세하게 하리니 너는 내 아들을 위해 나와 함께 거하고 있는 가나안 족속의 딸들 중에서 아내를 데려오지 말고

4. 4 but will go to my country and my own relatives and get a wife for my son Isaac."

   4 내 고향 내 친족에게 가서 내 아들 이삭을 위해 아내를 데려오라, 하매

5. 5 The servant asked him, "What if the woman is unwilling to come back with me to this land? Shall I then take your son back to the country you came from?"

   5 그 종이 그에게 이르되, 혹시 그 여자가 나를 따라 이 땅으로 오려 하지 아니하면 어찌하리이까? 내가 주인의 아들을 주인이 나오신 그 땅으로 반드시 다시 데려가야 하리이까? 하니

6. 6 "Make sure that you do not take my son back there," Abraham said.

   6 아브라함이 그에게 이르되, 너는 조심하여 내 아들을 다시 거기로 데려가지 말라.

7. 7 "The LORD, the God of heaven, who brought me out of my fathers household and my native land and who spoke to me and promised me on oath, saying, To your offspring I will give this land--he will send his angel before you so that you can get a wife for my son from there.

   7 ¶ 주 하늘의 하나님께서 나를 내 아버지 집과 내 친족의 땅에서 취하시고 내게 말씀하시며 내게 맹세하여 이르시기를, 내가 이 땅을 네 씨에게 주리라, 하셨으니 그분께서 자신의 천사를 네 앞에 보내시리라. 너는 거기에서 내 아들을 위해 아내를 데려올지니라.

8. 8 If the woman is unwilling to come back with you, then you will be released from this oath of mine. Only do not take my son back there."

   8 만일 그 여자가 너를 따라오려 하지 아니하면 네가 나의 이 맹세에서 풀려나리라. 다만 내 아들을 다시 거기로 데려가지 말라, 하니

9. 9 So the servant put his hand under the thigh of his master Abraham and swore an oath to him concerning this matter.

   9 그 종이 자기 주인 아브라함의 넓적다리 밑에 자기 손을 넣고 그 일에 관하여 그에게 맹세하였더라.

10. 10 Then the servant took ten of his masters camels and left, taking with him all kinds of good things from his master. He set out for Aram Naharaim and made his way to the town of Nahor.

    10 ¶ 그 종이 자기 주인의 낙타들 중에서 낙타 열 마리를 취한 뒤 떠났는데 그의 주인의 모든 좋은 것이 그의 손에 있더라. 그가 일어나 메소포타미아로 가서 나홀의 도시에 이르러

11. 11 He had the camels kneel down near the well outside the town; it was toward evening, the time the women go out to draw water.

    11 저녁때 곧 여인들이 물 길으러 나오는 때에 자기 낙타들을 도시 밖의 물 있는 우물곁에 무릎 꿇게 한 뒤

12. 12 Then he prayed, "O LORD, God of my master Abraham, give me success today, and show kindness to my master Abraham.

    12 이르되, 오 주 곧 내 주인 아브라함의 하나님이여, 원하건대 이날 내게 일이 잘되게 하사 내 주인 아브라함에게 친절을 베푸시옵소서.

13. 13 See, I am standing beside this spring, and the daughters of the townspeople are coming out to draw water.

    13 보소서, 내가 여기 물 있는 우물곁에 섰다가 그 도시 사람들의 딸들이 물 길으러 나오면

14. 14 May it be that when I say to a girl, Please let down your jar that I may have a drink, and she says, Drink, and Ill water your camels too--let her be the one you have chosen for your servant Isaac. By this I will know that you have shown kindness to my master."

    14 한 소녀에게 이르기를, 원하건대 네 항아리를 내려 내가 마시게 하라, 하리니 그녀가 이르기를, 마시소서. 내가 당신의 낙타들에게도 주어 마시게 하리이다, 하면 바로 그녀가 주께서 주의 종 이삭을 위해 정하신 여자이니이다. 그것에 의해 주께서 내 주인에게 친절을 베푸신 줄 내가 알리이다, 하더라.

15. 15 Before he had finished praying, Rebekah came out with her jar on her shoulder. She was the daughter of Bethuel son of Milcah, who was the wife of Abrahams brother Nahor.

    15 ¶ 그가 말을 마치기도 전에, 보라, 아브라함의 형제 나홀의 아내인 밀가의 아들 브두엘에게 태어난 리브가가 자기 항아리를 어깨에 메고 나오는데

16. 16 The girl was very beautiful, a virgin; no man had ever lain with her. She went down to the spring, filled her jar and came up again.

    16 그 소녀는 보기에 심히 아름다웠고 어떤 남자도 알지 아니한 처녀더라. 그녀가 우물로 내려가 자기 항아리를 가득 채워 가지고 올라오므로

17. 17 The servant hurried to meet her and said, "Please give me a little water from your jar."

    17 그 종이 달려가서 그녀를 만나 이르되, 원하건대 내가 네 항아리 물을 조금 마시게 하라, 하니

18. 18 "Drink, my lord," she said, and quickly lowered the jar to her hands and gave him a drink.

    18 그녀가 이르되, 내 주여, 마시소서, 하며 급히 자기 항아리를 자기 손에 내린 뒤 그에게 주어 마시게 하고

19. 19 After she had given him a drink, she said, "Ill draw water for your camels too, until they have finished drinking."

    19 그에게 주어 마시게 한 뒤에 이르되, 당신의 낙타들이 마시기를 다할 때까지 내가 그것들을 위해서도 물을 길으리이다, 하며

20. 20 So she quickly emptied her jar into the trough, ran back to the well to draw more water, and drew enough for all his camels.

    20 급히 자기 항아리를 구유에 비우고 다시 물을 긷기 위해 우물로 달려가 그의 모든 낙타들을 위해 물을 길으므로

21. 21 Without saying a word, the man watched her closely to learn whether or not the LORD had made his journey successful.

    21 그 사람이 그녀를 보고 놀라워하며 침묵한 채 주께서 자기 여정을 순탄하게 하셨는지 아니 하셨는지 알고자 하였더라.

22. 22 When the camels had finished drinking, the man took out a gold nose ring weighing a beka and two gold bracelets weighing ten shekels.

    22 낙타들이 마신 뒤에 그 사람이 반 세겔 무게의 금귀고리 한 개와 그녀의 손에 끼워 줄 십 세겔 무게의 금팔찌 두 개를 가져와서는

23. 23 Then he asked, "Whose daughter are you? Please tell me, is there room in your fathers house for us to spend the night?"

    23 이르되, 너는 누구의 딸이냐? 원하건대 내게 말하라. 네 아버지 집에 우리가 묵을 곳이 있느냐? 하니

24. 24 She answered him, "I am the daughter of Bethuel, the son that Milcah bore to Nahor."

    24 그녀가 그에게 이르되, 나는 밀가가 나홀에게 낳은 아들 곧 밀가의 아들인 브두엘의 딸이니이다, 하고

25. 25 And she added, "We have plenty of straw and fodder, as well as room for you to spend the night."

    25 덧붙여 그에게 이르되, 우리에게는 짚과 여물이 다 충분히 있으며 묵을 곳도 있나이다, 하매

26. 26 Then the man bowed down and worshiped the LORD,

    26 그 사람이 머리 숙여 주께 경배하고

27. 27 saying, "Praise be to the LORD, the God of my master Abraham, who has not abandoned his kindness and faithfulness to my master. As for me, the LORD has led me on the journey to the house of my masters relatives."

    27 이르되, 주 곧 내 주인 아브라함의 하나님을 찬송할지어다. 그분께서 내 주인에게 자신의 긍휼과 자신의 진리가 끊어지지 않게 하셨으며 내가 길에 있을 때에 주께서 나를 인도하사 내 주인의 형제들 집에 이르게 하셨도다, 하니라.

28. 28 The girl ran and told her mothers household about these things.

    28 그 소녀가 달려가 이 일들을 자기 어머니 집 사람들에게 고하였더라.

29. 29 Now Rebekah had a brother named Laban, and he hurried out to the man at the spring.

    29 ¶ 리브가에게 오라비가 있었고 그의 이름은 라반이었는데 라반이 우물에 있는 그 사람에게 달려갔더라.

30. 30 As soon as he had seen the nose ring, and the bracelets on his sisters arms, and had heard Rebekah tell what the man said to her, he went out to the man and found him standing by the camels near the spring.

    30 라반이 귀고리와 자기 누이 손에 있는 팔찌들을 보고 또 자기 누이 리브가의 말 곧, 그 사람이 내게 이같이 말하더라, 하는 말을 들은 뒤 그 사람에게 나갔는데, 보라, 그가 우물에서 낙타들 곁에 서 있으므로

31. 31 "Come, you who are blessed by the LORD," he said. "Why are you standing out here? I have prepared the house and a place for the camels."

    31 라반이 이르되, 주께 복받은 분이여, 들어오소서. 어찌하여 밖에 서 있나이까? 내가 집을 예비하고 낙타들이 있을 곳을 예비하였나이다, 하니라.

32. 32 So the man went to the house, and the camels were unloaded. Straw and fodder were brought for the camels, and water for him and his men to wash their feet.

    32 ¶ 그 사람이 집으로 들어가매 라반이 낙타들의 띠를 풀어 주고 짚과 여물을 낙타들에게 주며 그의 발과 그와 함께한 사람들의 발 씻을 물을 주고

33. 33 Then food was set before him, but he said, "I will not eat until I have told you what I have to say." "Then tell us," Laban said.

    33 그 앞에 먹을 음식을 차려 놓았으나 그가 이르되, 내가 나의 전할 말을 고하기 전에는 먹지 아니하리이다, 하니 라반이 이르되, 말씀하소서, 하매

34. 34 So he said, "I am Abrahams servant.

    34 그가 이르되, 나는 아브라함의 종이니이다.

35. 35 The LORD has blessed my master abundantly, and he has become wealthy. He has given him sheep and cattle, silver and gold, menservants and maidservants, and camels and donkeys.

    35 주께서 내 주인에게 크게 복을 주셨으므로 그가 크게 되었으며 그분께서 양 떼와 소 떼와 은과 금과 남종들과 여종들과 낙타들과 나귀들을 그에게 주셨나이다.

36. 36 My masters wife Sarah has borne him a son in her old age, and he has given him everything he owns.

    36 내 주인의 아내 사라가 노년에 내 주인에게 아들을 낳으니 주인이 자기가 소유한 모든 것을 그에게 주었나이다.

37. 37 And my master made me swear an oath, and said, You must not get a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, in whose land I live,

    37 내 주인이 나에게 맹세하게 하여 이르되, 너는 내 아들을 위해 내가 거하고 있는 땅을 차지한 가나안 족속의 딸들 중에서 아내를 데려오지 말고

38. 38 but go to my fathers family and to my own clan, and get a wife for my son.

    38 내 아버지 집으로, 내 친족에게 가서 내 아들을 위해 아내를 데려오라, 하시기에

39. 39 "Then I asked my master, What if the woman will not come back with me?

    39 내가 내 주인에게 이르되, 혹시 그 여자가 나를 따라오려 하지 아니하면 어찌하리이까? 하니

40. 40 "He replied, The LORD, before whom I have walked, will send his angel with you and make your journey a success, so that you can get a wife for my son from my own clan and from my fathers family.

    40 주인이 내게 이르되, 내가 주 앞에서 걸으므로 그분께서 자신의 천사를 너와 함께 보내사 네 길을 순탄하게 하시리라. 너는 내 친족에게서 곧 내 아버지 집에서 내 아들을 위해 아내를 데려올지니라.

41. 41 Then, when you go to my clan, you will be released from my oath even if they refuse to give her to you--you will be released from my oath.

    41 그러면 네가 내 친족에게 다다를 때에 나의 이 맹세에서 풀려날 것이요, 만일 그들이 네게 주지 아니할지라도 네가 내 맹세에서 풀려나리라, 하셨나이다.

42. 42 "When I came to the spring today, I said, O LORD, God of my master Abraham, if you will, please grant success to the journey on which I have come.

    42 내가 이날 우물에 와서 말하기를, 오 주 곧 내 주인 아브라함의 하나님이여, 만일 이제 주께서 내가 가는 길을 순탄하게 하시거든

43. 43 See, I am standing beside this spring; if a maiden comes out to draw water and I say to her, "Please let me drink a little water from your jar,"

    43 보소서, 내가 물 있는 우물곁에 섰다가 처녀가 물 길으러 오거든 그녀에게 이르되, 원하건대 네 항아리 물을 내게 조금 주어 마시게 하라, 할 때에

44. 44 and if she says to me, "Drink, and Ill draw water for your camels too," let her be the one the LORD has chosen for my masters son.

    44 그녀가 내게 이르기를, 당신은 마시소서, 하고 또, 내가 당신의 낙타들을 위해서도 길으리이다, 하면 바로 그녀가 주께서 내 주인의 아들을 위해 정해 주신 여자가 되리이다, 하였나이다.

45. 45 "Before I finished praying in my heart, Rebekah came out, with her jar on her shoulder. She went down to the spring and drew water, and I said to her, Please give me a drink.

    45 내가 마음속으로 말을 끝마치기도 전에, 보소서, 리브가가 자기 항아리를 어깨에 메고 나와서 우물로 내려가 물을 긷기에 내가 그녀에게 이르기를, 원하건대 내가 마시게 하라, 하니

46. 46 "She quickly lowered her jar from her shoulder and said, Drink, and Ill water your camels too. So I drank, and she watered the camels also.

    46 그녀가 급히 자기 항아리를 어깨에서 내려놓으며 이르되, 마시소서. 내가 당신의 낙타들에게도 마실 것을 주리이다, 하기에 내가 마시매 그녀가 낙타들에게도 마시게 하였나이다.

47. 47 "I asked her, Whose daughter are you? "She said, The daughter of Bethuel son of Nahor, whom Milcah bore to him. "Then I put the ring in her nose and the bracelets on her arms,

    47 내가 그녀에게 물어 이르기를, 너는 누구의 딸이냐? 하니 그녀가 이르되, 밀가가 나홀에게 낳은 아들 곧 나홀의 아들인 브두엘의 딸이니이다, 하기에 내가 귀고리를 그녀의 얼굴에 끼워 주고 팔찌들을 그녀의 손에 끼워 주며

48. 48 and I bowed down and worshiped the LORD. I praised the LORD, the God of my master Abraham, who had led me on the right road to get the granddaughter of my masters brother for his son.

    48 주 곧 내 주인 아브라함의 하나님께서 나를 옳은 길로 인도하사 내 주인의 형제의 딸을 그의 아들을 위해 데려가게 하셨으므로 내가 머리 숙여 주께 경배하고 그분을 찬양하였나이다.

49. 49 Now if you will show kindness and faithfulness to my master, tell me; and if not, tell me, so I may know which way to turn."

    49 이제 당신들이 친절하고 진실하게 내 주인을 대접하시려거든 내게 말하고 그리하려 하지 아니하실지라도 내게 말하여 내가 오른쪽으로든 왼쪽으로든 향하게 하소서, 하니라.

50. 50 Laban and Bethuel answered, "This is from the LORD; we can say nothing to you one way or the other.

    50 그때에 라반과 브두엘이 응답하여 이르되, 그 일이 주로부터 나왔으니 우리는 그대에게 나쁘다 좋다 할 수 없노라.

51. 51 Here is Rebekah; take her and go, and let her become the wife of your masters son, as the LORD has directed."

    51 보라, 리브가가 그대 앞에 있으니 그녀를 데려다가 주께서 말씀하신 대로 그녀가 그대 주인 아들의 아내가 되게 하라, 하매

52. 52 When Abrahams servant heard what they said, he bowed down to the ground before the LORD.

    52 아브라함의 종이 그들의 말을 듣고 땅에 엎드려 주께 경배하며

53. 53 Then the servant brought out gold and silver jewelry and articles of clothing and gave them to Rebekah; he also gave costly gifts to her brother and to her mother.

    53 은보석과 금보석과 옷을 가져와 리브가에게 주고 그녀의 오라비와 어머니에게도 귀한 것들을 주니라.

54. 54 Then he and the men who were with him ate and drank and spent the night there. When they got up the next morning, he said, "Send me on my way to my master."

    54 그들 곧 그와 또 그와 함께한 사람들이 먹고 마시며 온밤을 지내고 아침에 일어난 뒤 그가 이르되, 나를 내 주인에게 보내어 주소서, 하니

55. 55 But her brother and her mother replied, "Let the girl remain with us ten days or so; then you may go."

    55 그녀의 오라비와 어머니가 이르되, 소녀가 며칠을, 적어도 열흘을 우리와 함께 있게 하라. 그 뒤에 그녀가 갈 것이니라, 하매

56. 56 But he said to them, "Do not detain me, now that the LORD has granted success to my journey. Send me on my way so I may go to my master."

    56 그가 그들에게 이르되, 나를 막지 마소서. 주께서 내 길을 순탄하게 하셨으니 나를 보내사 내가 내 주인에게 가게 하소서, 하므로

57. 57 Then they said, "Lets call the girl and ask her about it."

    57 그들이 이르되, 우리가 소녀를 불러 그녀의 입이 직접 대답하게 물어보리라, 하고

58. 58 So they called Rebekah and asked her, "Will you go with this man?" "I will go," she said.

    58 리브가를 불러 그녀에게 이르되, 네가 이 사람과 함께 가려느냐? 하니 그녀가 이르되, 가겠나이다, 하더라.

59. 59 So they sent their sister Rebekah on her way, along with her nurse and Abrahams servant and his men.

    59 그들이 자기들의 누이 리브가와 그녀의 유모와 아브라함의 종과 그의 사람들을 보내며

60. 60 And they blessed Rebekah and said to her, "Our sister, may you increase to thousands upon thousands; may your offspring possess the gates of their enemies."

    60 리브가를 축복하여 그녀에게 이르되, 너는 우리의 누이니라. 너는 수천 수백만의 어머니가 될지어다. 네 씨가 자기들을 미워하는 자들의 문을 소유할지어다, 하니라.

61. 61 Then Rebekah and her maids got ready and mounted their camels and went back with the man. So the servant took Rebekah and left.

    61 ¶ 리브가와 그녀의 소녀들이 일어나 낙타들을 타고 그 사람을 따라나서니 그 종이 리브가를 데리고 자기 길로 가니라.

62. 62 Now Isaac had come from Beer Lahai Roi, for he was living in the Negev.

    62 한편 이삭이 라해로이 우물에 이르는 길에서 왔으니 이는 그가 남쪽 지방에 거하였기 때문이더라.

63. 63 He went out to the field one evening to meditate, and as he looked up, he saw camels approaching.

    63 이삭이 저물 때에 나가 들에서 묵상하다가 눈을 들어 바라보니, 보라, 낙타들이 오고 있더라.

64. 64 Rebekah also looked up and saw Isaac. She got down from her camel

    64 리브가가 눈을 들어 이삭을 보고는 낙타에서 내렸으니

65. 65 and asked the servant, "Who is that man in the field coming to meet us?" "He is my master," the servant answered. So she took her veil and covered herself.

    65 이는 그녀가 그 종에게 이르기를, 들에서 우리를 만나러 걸어오는 이 사람은 누구니이까? 하매 그 종이 이르기를, 내 주인이니이다, 하였기 때문이더라. 그러므로 그녀가 베일을 취해 자기를 가리니라.

66. 66 Then the servant told Isaac all he had done.

    66 그 종이 자기가 행한 모든 일을 이삭에게 고하매

67. 67 Isaac brought her into the tent of his mother Sarah, and he married Rebekah. So she became his wife, and he loved her; and Isaac was comforted after his mothers death.

    67 이삭이 리브가를 자기 어머니 사라의 장막으로 데려가서 그녀를 취하니 그녀가 그의 아내가 되었으며 그가 그녀를 사랑하였더라. 이로써 이삭이 자기 어머니가 죽은 뒤에 위로를 얻었더라.
