창세기 32장 [킹제임스]

1. 1 Jacob also went on his way, and the angels of God met him.

   1 야곱이 자기 길로 가고 있는데 하나님의 천사들이 그를 만났으므로

2. 2 When Jacob saw them, he said, "This is the camp of God!" So he named that place Mahanaim.

   2 야곱이 그들을 볼 때에 이르기를, 이것은 하나님의 군대라, 하고 그곳의 이름을 마하나임이라 하였더라.

3. 3 Jacob sent messengers ahead of him to his brother Esau in the land of Seir, the country of Edom.

   3 야곱이 세일 땅 곧 에돔 지방에 있는 자기 형 에서에게 자기보다 앞서 사자들을 보내며

4. 4 He instructed them: "This is what you are to say to my master Esau: Your servant Jacob says, I have been staying with Laban and have remained there till now.

   4 그들에게 명령하여 이르되, 너희는 이같이 내 주 에서에게 고하기를, 주의 종 야곱이 이같이 말하나이다. 내가 라반과 함께하며 체류하였고 지금까지 거기 있었으며

5. 5 I have cattle and donkeys, sheep and goats, menservants and maidservants. Now I am sending this message to my lord, that I may find favor in your eyes."

   5 내게는 소들과 나귀들과 양 떼와 남종들과 여종들이 있나이다. 내가 내 주의 눈앞에서 은혜를 입기 위해 내 주께 고하도록 사람을 보내었나이다, 하라, 하니라.

6. 6 When the messengers returned to Jacob, they said, "We went to your brother Esau, and now he is coming to meet you, and four hundred men are with him."

   6 ¶ 사자들이 야곱에게 돌아와 이르되, 우리가 주인의 형 에서에게 갔는데 그 역시 주인을 만나려고 사백 명의 남자들과 함께 오고 있나이다, 하매

7. 7 In great fear and distress Jacob divided the people who were with him into two groups, and the flocks and herds and camels as well.

   7 이에 야곱이 심히 두렵고 괴로워서 자기와 함께한 사람들과 양 떼와 소 떼와 낙타들을 두 떼로 나누고

8. 8 He thought, "If Esau comes and attacks one group, the group that is left may escape."

   8 이르되, 에서가 한 무리에게 와서 그것을 치면 남아 있는 다른 무리는 피하리라, 하더라.

9. 9 Then Jacob prayed, "O God of my father Abraham, God of my father Isaac, O LORD, who said to me, Go back to your country and your relatives, and I will make you prosper,

   9 ¶ 또 야곱이 이르되, 오 내 조상 아브라함의 하나님, 내 아버지 이삭의 하나님 곧, 네 고향 네 친족에게 돌아가라. 내가 너를 선하게 대하리라, 하고 내게 말씀하신 주여,

10. 10 I am unworthy of all the kindness and faithfulness you have shown your servant. I had only my staff when I crossed this Jordan, but now I have become two groups.

    10 주께서 주의 종에게 보여 주신 모든 긍휼과 모든 진리 중 가장 작은 것도 내가 감당할 수 없사오니 이는 내가 내 지팡이만 가지고 이 요르단을 건넜으나 지금은 두 떼나 이루었기 때문이니이다.

11. 11 Save me, I pray, from the hand of my brother Esau, for I am afraid he will come and attack me, and also the mothers with their children.

    11 원하건대 내 형의 손에서 곧 에서의 손에서 나를 구출하옵소서. 그가 와서 나와 또 아이들과 함께 있는 어머니를 칠까 염려하므로 내가 그를 두려워하나이다.

12. 12 But you have said, I will surely make you prosper and will make your descendants like the sand of the sea, which cannot be counted."

    12 주께서 이르시되, 내가 반드시 네게 선을 베풀고 네 씨가 바다의 모래 곧 너무 많아 셀 수 없는 모래같이 되게 하리라, 하셨나이다, 하니라.

13. 13 He spent the night there, and from what he had with him he selected a gift for his brother Esau:

    13 ¶ 그가 바로 그 밤을 거기서 묵고 자기 손에 들어온 것 중에서 자기 형 에서를 위해 예물을 취하였는데

14. 14 two hundred female goats and twenty male goats, two hundred ewes and twenty rams,

    14 그 예물은 암염소가 이백 마리요, 숫염소가 스무 마리요, 암양이 이백 마리요, 숫양이 스무 마리요,

15. 15 thirty female camels with their young, forty cows and ten bulls, and twenty female donkeys and ten male donkeys.

    15 젖 먹이는 낙타 서른 마리와 그것들의 새끼들이요, 암소가 마흔 마리요, 황소가 열 마리요, 암나귀가 스무 마리요, 나귀 새끼가 열 마리더라.

16. 16 He put them in the care of his servants, each herd by itself, and said to his servants, "Go ahead of me, and keep some space between the herds."

    16 그가 그것들을 각각 떼로 나누어 자기 종들의 손에 넘겨주며 자기 종들에게 이르되, 나보다 앞서 건너가고 떼와 떼 사이에 거리를 두라, 하고는

17. 17 He instructed the one in the lead: "When my brother Esau meets you and asks, To whom do you belong, and where are you going, and who owns all these animals in front of you?

    17 또 그가 맨 앞에 선 자에게 명령하여 이르되, 내 형 에서가 너를 만나 네게 물으며 말하기를, 너는 누구의 사람이냐? 어디로 가느냐? 네 앞에 있는 이것들은 누구의 것이냐? 하거든

18. 18 then you are to say, They belong to your servant Jacob. They are a gift sent to my lord Esau, and he is coming behind us."

    18 너는 이르기를, 그것들은 주의 종 야곱의 것이요, 내 주 에서에게 보내는 예물이오며, 보소서, 그도 우리 뒤에 있나이다, 하라, 하고

19. 19 He also instructed the second, the third and all the others who followed the herds: "You are to say the same thing to Esau when you meet him.

    19 또 이렇게 둘째와 셋째와 또 떼들을 따라가는 모든 자들에게 명령하여 이르되, 너희가 에서를 만나거든 이런 식으로 그에게 말하고

20. 20 And be sure to say, Your servant Jacob is coming behind us." For he thought, "I will pacify him with these gifts I am sending on ahead; later, when I see him, perhaps he will receive me."

    20 또 너희는 덧붙여 이르기를, 보소서, 주의 종 야곱이 우리 뒤에 있나이다, 하라, 하니 이는 그가 말하기를, 내가 나보다 앞서가는 예물로 그를 달랜 뒤에 그의 얼굴을 보면 혹시 그가 나를 받아들일 수도 있다, 하였기 때문이더라.

21. 21 So Jacobs gifts went on ahead of him, but he himself spent the night in the camp.

    21 이같이 예물이 그보다 앞서갔고 그 밤에 그는 무리 가운데서 묵었더라.

22. 22 That night Jacob got up and took his two wives, his two maidservants and his eleven sons and crossed the ford of the Jabbok.

    22 그 밤에 그가 일어나 자기의 두 아내와 두 여종과 열한 아들을 데리고 얍복 여울을 건넜으며

23. 23 After he had sent them across the stream, he sent over all his possessions.

    23 또 그가 그들을 데려다가 시내 너머로 보내고 자기 소유도 보내었더라.

24. 24 So Jacob was left alone, and a man wrestled with him till daybreak.

    24 ¶ 야곱이 홀로 남았는데 어떤 남자가 날이 새도록 그와 씨름하다가

25. 25 When the man saw that he could not overpower him, he touched the socket of Jacobs hip so that his hip was wrenched as he wrestled with the man.

    25 자기가 그를 이기지 못함을 보고는 그의 넓적다리의 우묵한 곳에 손을 대매 야곱의 넓적다리의 우묵한 곳이 그와 씨름할 때에 위골되었더라.

26. 26 Then the man said, "Let me go, for it is daybreak." But Jacob replied, "I will not let you go unless you bless me."

    26 그가 이르되, 날이 새려 하니 나를 가게 하라, 하매 야곱이 이르되, 당신이 나를 축복하지 아니하면 내가 당신을 가게 하지 아니하겠나이다, 하니

27. 27 The man asked him, "What is your name?" "Jacob," he answered.

    27 그가 야곱에게 이르되, 네 이름이 무엇이냐? 하므로 야곱이 이르되, 야곱이니이다, 하매

28. 28 Then the man said, "Your name will no longer be Jacob, but Israel, because you have struggled with God and with men and have overcome."

    28 그가 이르되, 네 이름이 다시는 야곱이라 불리지 아니하고 이스라엘이라 불리리니 이는 네가 통치자로서 하나님과 힘을 겨루며 사람들과 힘을 겨루어 이겼기 때문이니라, 하니라.

29. 29 Jacob said, "Please tell me your name." But he replied, "Why do you ask my name?" Then he blessed him there.

    29 야곱이 그에게 물어 이르되, 원하건대 당신의 이름을 말해 주소서, 하매 그가 이르되, 네가 어찌하여 내 이름을 묻느냐? 하고 그가 거기서 야곱을 축복하므로

30. 30 So Jacob called the place Peniel, saying, "It is because I saw God face to face, and yet my life was spared."

    30 야곱이 그곳의 이름을 브니엘이라 하였으니 이는 야곱이 이르기를, 내가 얼굴을 마주 대하여 하나님을 보았으나 내 생명이 보존되었다, 하였기 때문이더라.

31. 31 The sun rose above him as he passed Peniel, and he was limping because of his hip.

    31 야곱이 브누엘을 지날 때에 그의 위로 해가 솟았고 그는 넓적다리로 인해 절뚝거리며 걸었더라.

32. 32 Therefore to this day the Israelites do not eat the tendon attached to the socket of the hip, because the socket of Jacobs hip was touched near the tendon.

    32 그러므로 이스라엘 자손이 이날까지 넓적다리의 우묵한 곳에 있는 오그라든 힘줄을 먹지 아니하니 이는 그 사람이 오그라든 힘줄에 붙은 야곱의 넓적다리의 우묵한 곳에 손을 대었기 때문이더라.
