창세기 37장 [킹제임스]

1. 1 Jacob lived in the land where his father had stayed, the land of Canaan.

   1 야곱이 가나안 땅 곧 자기 아버지가 나그네로 지내던 땅에 거하였더라.

2. 2 This is the account of Jacob. Joseph, a young man of seventeen, was tending the flocks with his brothers, the sons of Bilhah and the sons of Zilpah, his fathers wives, and he brought their father a bad report about them.

   2 야곱의 세대들은 이러하니라. 요셉이 십칠 세가 되어 자기 형들과 함께 양 떼를 먹였는데 그 소년이 자기 아버지 아내인 빌하의 아들들과 다른 아내인 실바의 아들들과 함께 있을 때에 그들에 대한 나쁜 소문을 자기 아버지에게 보고하였더라.

3. 3 Now Israel loved Joseph more than any of his other sons, because he had been born to him in his old age; and he made a richly ornamented robe for him.

   3 한편 이스라엘이 자기의 모든 자식들보다 요셉을 더 사랑하였으니 이는 그가 자기의 노년에 얻은 아들이었기 때문이더라. 야곱이 그를 위해 채색옷을 지었으므로

4. 4 When his brothers saw that their father loved him more than any of them, they hated him and could not speak a kind word to him.

   4 그의 형제들은 자기들의 아버지가 그의 모든 형제들보다 그를 더 사랑하는 것을 보고 그를 미워하여 그에게 화평히 말을 할 수 없었더라.

5. 5 Joseph had a dream, and when he told it to his brothers, they hated him all the more.

   5 ¶ 요셉이 꿈을 꾸고 그 꿈을 자기 형들에게 고하매 그들이 그를 더욱더 미워하였더라.

6. 6 He said to them, "Listen to this dream I had:

   6 그가 그들에게 이르되, 원하건대 내가 꾼 이 꿈 이야기를 들으소서.

7. 7 We were binding sheaves of grain out in the field when suddenly my sheaf rose and stood upright, while your sheaves gathered around mine and bowed down to it."

   7 보소서, 우리가 들에서 곡식 단을 묶고 있는데, 보소서, 내 단은 일어나 또한 똑바로 서고, 보소서, 형들의 단들은 둘러서서 내 단에게 경의를 표하였나이다, 하매

8. 8 His brothers said to him, "Do you intend to reign over us? Will you actually rule us?" And they hated him all the more because of his dream and what he had said.

   8 그의 형들이 그에게 이르되, 네가 참으로 우리를 통치하겠느냐? 참으로 우리를 지배하겠느냐? 하고 그의 꿈과 그의 말로 인해 그를 더욱더 미워하였더라.

9. 9 Then he had another dream, and he told it to his brothers. "Listen," he said, "I had another dream, and this time the sun and moon and eleven stars were bowing down to me."

   9 ¶ 또 그가 다른 꿈을 꾸고 그 꿈을 자기 형들에게 고하여 이르되, 보소서, 내가 또 꿈을 꾸었는데, 보소서, 해와 달과 열한 별이 내게 경의를 표하였나이다, 하고는

10. 10 When he told his father as well as his brothers, his father rebuked him and said, "What is this dream you had? Will your mother and I and your brothers actually come and bow down to the ground before you?"

    10 그 꿈을 자기 아버지와 형들에게 고하매 그의 아버지가 그를 꾸짖으며 그에게 이르되, 네가 꾼 이 꿈이 무엇이냐? 나와 네 어머니와 네 형제들이 참으로 가서 땅에 엎드려 네게 절하겠느냐? 하니라.

11. 11 His brothers were jealous of him, but his father kept the matter in mind.

    11 그의 형들은 그를 시기하였으나 그의 아버지는 그 말을 간직하였더라.

12. 12 Now his brothers had gone to graze their fathers flocks near Shechem,

    12 ¶ 그의 형들이 세겜에서 자기들 아버지의 양 떼를 먹이러 가매

13. 13 and Israel said to Joseph, "As you know, your brothers are grazing the flocks near Shechem. Come, I am going to send you to them." "Very well," he replied.

    13 이스라엘이 요셉에게 이르되, 네 형들이 세겜에서 양 떼를 먹이지 아니하느냐? 오라, 내가 너를 그들에게 보내리라, 하니 요셉이 그에게 이르되, 내가 여기 있나이다, 하므로

14. 14 So he said to him, "Go and see if all is well with your brothers and with the flocks, and bring word back to me." Then he sent him off from the Valley of Hebron. When Joseph arrived at Shechem,

    14 이스라엘이 그에게 이르되, 원하건대 가서 네 형들과 양 떼가 잘 있는지 보고 내게 다시 말을 전하라, 하며 이렇게 헤브론 골짜기에서 그를 보내매 그가 세겜으로 가니라.

15. 15 a man found him wandering around in the fields and asked him, "What are you looking for?"

    15 ¶ 어떤 사람이 그를 만났는데, 보라, 그가 들에서 헤매고 있으므로 그 사람이 그에게 물어 이르되, 네가 무엇을 찾고 있느냐? 하매

16. 16 He replied, "Im looking for my brothers. Can you tell me where they are grazing their flocks?"

    16 그가 이르되, 내가 내 형들을 찾고 있으니 원하건대 그들이 그들의 양 떼를 먹이는 곳을 내게 말해 주소서, 하므로

17. 17 "They have moved on from here," the man answered. "I heard them say, Lets go to Dothan." So Joseph went after his brothers and found them near Dothan.

    17 그 사람이 이르되, 그들이 여기에서 떠났느니라. 내가 그들의 말을 들었는데 우리가 도단으로 가자 하더라, 하매 요셉이 자기 형들의 뒤를 따라가 도단에서 그들을 만나니라.

18. 18 But they saw him in the distance, and before he reached them, they plotted to kill him.

    18 그가 그들에게 가까이 가기도 전에 그들이 멀리서 그를 보고는 그를 죽이려고 그를 대적하여 음모를 꾸미며

19. 19 "Here comes that dreamer!" they said to each other.

    19 서로에게 이르되, 보라, 이 꿈꾸는 자가 오는도다.

20. 20 "Come now, lets kill him and throw him into one of these cisterns and say that a ferocious animal devoured him. Then well see what comes of his dreams."

    20 그러므로 이제 오라. 우리가 그를 죽여 어떤 구덩이에 던지고 말하기를, 어떤 악한 짐승이 그를 잡아먹었다, 하자. 그의 꿈들이 어떻게 되는지 우리가 보리라, 하매

21. 21 When Reuben heard this, he tried to rescue him from their hands. "Lets not take his life," he said.

    21 르우벤이 그 말을 듣고 그를 그들의 손에서 구출하며 이르되, 우리가 그를 죽이지는 말자, 하고는

22. 22 "Dont shed any blood. Throw him into this cistern here in the desert, but dont lay a hand on him." Reuben said this to rescue him from them and take him back to his father.

    22 또 르우벤이 그들에게 이르되, 피를 흘리지 말라. 그를 광야에 있는 이 구덩이에 던지고 그에게 손을 대지 말라, 하였으니 이것은 그가 요셉을 그들의 손에서 빼내어 다시 자기 아버지에게 넘겨주려 함이었더라.

23. 23 So when Joseph came to his brothers, they stripped him of his robe--the richly ornamented robe he was wearing--

    23 ¶ 요셉이 자기 형들에게 가매 그들이 요셉의 옷 곧 그가 입은 채색옷을 벗기고

24. 24 and they took him and threw him into the cistern. Now the cistern was empty; there was no water in it.

    24 그를 붙잡아 구덩이에 던졌는데 그 구덩이는 비어 있고 그 속에는 물이 없더라.

25. 25 As they sat down to eat their meal, they looked up and saw a caravan of Ishmaelites coming from Gilead. Their camels were loaded with spices, balm and myrrh, and they were on their way to take them down to Egypt.

    25 그들이 빵을 먹으려고 앉았다가 눈을 들어 바라보니, 보라, 이스마엘 족속 한 무리가 향료와 유향과 몰약을 낙타들에 싣고 길르앗에서 오며 이집트로 그것을 가지고 내려가므로

26. 26 Judah said to his brothers, "What will we gain if we kill our brother and cover up his blood?

    26 유다가 자기 형제들에게 이르되, 우리가 우리 동생을 죽이고 그의 피를 숨긴들 그것이 무슨 유익이 되겠느냐?

27. 27 Come, lets sell him to the Ishmaelites and not lay our hands on him; after all, he is our brother, our own flesh and blood." His brothers agreed.

    27 오라, 우리가 그를 이스마엘 족속에게 팔고 우리 손을 그에게 대지 말자. 그는 우리 동생이요, 우리 살붙이니라, 하니 그의 형제들이 흡족히 여기더라.

28. 28 So when the Midianite merchants came by, his brothers pulled Joseph up out of the cistern and sold him for twenty shekels of silver to the Ishmaelites, who took him to Egypt.

    28 그때에 미디안 족속 상인들이 거기를 지나가므로 그들이 요셉을 구덩이에서 끌어 올려 은 스무 개를 받고 이스마엘 족속에게 요셉을 파니 그 사람들이 요셉을 이집트로 데리고 들어갔더라.

29. 29 When Reuben returned to the cistern and saw that Joseph was not there, he tore his clothes.

    29 ¶ 르우벤이 구덩이로 돌아왔는데, 보라, 요셉이 그 구덩이에 없으므로 그가 자기 옷을 찢고

30. 30 He went back to his brothers and said, "The boy isnt there! Where can I turn now?"

    30 자기 형제들에게 돌아와 이르되, 아이가 없도다. 나는, 나는 어디로 갈까? 하니라.

31. 31 Then they got Josephs robe, slaughtered a goat and dipped the robe in the blood.

    31 그들이 요셉의 옷을 가져다가 염소들 중에서 새끼를 죽여 그 옷을 그 피로 적신 뒤

32. 32 They took the ornamented robe back to their father and said, "We found this. Examine it to see whether it is your sons robe."

    32 그 채색옷을 보내고는 자기들 아버지에게 그것을 가지고 가서 이르기를, 우리가 이것을 발견하였는데 이제 그것이 아버지의 아들의 옷인지 아닌지 알아보소서, 하매

33. 33 He recognized it and said, "It is my sons robe! Some ferocious animal has devoured him. Joseph has surely been torn to pieces."

    33 야곱이 그것을 알아보고 이르되, 그것은 내 아들의 옷이라. 악한 짐승이 그를 잡아먹었도다. 의심할 여지없이 요셉이 갈기갈기 찢겼도다, 하며

34. 34 Then Jacob tore his clothes, put on sackcloth and mourned for his son many days.

    34 야곱이 자기 옷을 찢고 허리에 굵은베를 두르고는 여러 날 동안 자기 아들로 인해 애곡하니라.

35. 35 All his sons and daughters came to comfort him, but he refused to be comforted. "No," he said, "in mourning will I go down to the grave to my son." So his father wept for him.

    35 그의 모든 아들들과 모든 딸들이 일어나 그를 위로하였으나 그가 위로받기를 거절하고 이르되, 내가 애곡하며 무덤 속으로 내려가 내 아들에게 가리라, 하고 이같이 그의 아버지가 그로 인해 울었더라.

36. 36 Meanwhile, the Midianites sold Joseph in Egypt to Potiphar, one of Pharaohs officials, the captain of the guard.

    36 미디안 족속이 이집트로 들어가 파라오의 소유물을 맡은 직무 수행자요, 호위대장인 보디발에게 그를 팔았더라.
