창세기 38장 [킹제임스]

1. 1 At that time, Judah left his brothers and went down to stay with a man of Adullam named Hirah.

   1 그때에 유다가 자기 형제들을 떠나 내려간 뒤 발길을 돌려 어떤 아둘람 사람에게 갔는데 그의 이름은 히라더라.

2. 2 There Judah met the daughter of a Canaanite man named Shua. He married her and lay with her;

   2 유다가 거기서 수아라는 이름을 가진 어떤 가나안 족속의 딸을 보고 그녀를 취해 그녀에게로 들어가니

3. 3 she became pregnant and gave birth to a son, who was named Er.

   3 그녀가 수태하여 아들을 낳으매 유다가 그의 이름을 엘이라 하니라.

4. 4 She conceived again and gave birth to a son and named him Onan.

   4 그녀가 다시 수태하여 아들을 낳고 그의 이름을 오난이라 하였으며

5. 5 She gave birth to still another son and named him Shelah. It was at Kezib that she gave birth to him.

   5 그녀가 또다시 수태하여 아들을 낳고 그의 이름을 셀라라 하였더라. 그녀가 그를 낳을 때에 유다는 그십에 있었더라.

6. 6 Judah got a wife for Er, his firstborn, and her name was Tamar.

   6 유다가 자기 맏아들 엘을 위해 아내를 취하였는데 그녀의 이름은 다말이더라.

7. 7 But Er, Judahs firstborn, was wicked in the LORDS sight; so the LORD put him to death.

   7 유다의 맏아들 엘이 주의 눈앞에서 사악하므로 주께서 그를 죽이시니

8. 8 Then Judah said to Onan, "Lie with your brothers wife and fulfill your duty to her as a brother-in-law to produce offspring for your brother."

   8 유다가 오난에게 이르되, 네 형수에게로 들어가 그녀와 결혼하여 네 형에게 씨를 일으키라, 하매

9. 9 But Onan knew that the offspring would not be his; so whenever he lay with his brothers wife, he spilled his semen on the ground to keep from producing offspring for his brother.

   9 오난이 그 씨가 자기 것이 되지 아니할 줄 알고는 자기 형수에게로 들어갈 때 자기 형에게 씨를 주지 아니하려고 그 씨를 땅바닥에 흘리니

10. 10 What he did was wicked in the LORDS sight; so he put him to death also.

    10 주께서 그가 행한 일을 기뻐하지 아니하셨으므로 그도 죽이시매

11. 11 Judah then said to his daughter-in-law Tamar, "Live as a widow in your fathers house until my son Shelah grows up." For he thought, "He may die too, just like his brothers." So Tamar went to live in her fathers house.

    11 이에 유다가 자기 며느리 다말에게 이르되, 내 아들 셀라가 장성할 때까지 네 아버지 집에서 과부로 남아 있으라, 하니 이는 유다가 말하기를, 혹시 그도 자기 형들같이 죽을까 염려하노라, 하였기 때문이더라. 이에 다말이 가서 자기 아버지 집에 거하니라.

12. 12 After a long time Judahs wife, the daughter of Shua, died. When Judah had recovered from his grief, he went up to Timnah, to the men who were shearing his sheep, and his friend Hirah the Adullamite went with him.

    12 ¶ 시간이 흐른 뒤에 유다의 아내 곧 수아의 딸이 죽었으므로 유다가 위로를 받은 뒤 자기 친구 아둘람 사람 히라와 함께 딤낫에 있는 자기의 양털 깎는 자들에게로 올라갔는데

13. 13 When Tamar was told, "Your father-in-law is on his way to Timnah to shear his sheep,"

    13 어떤 이가 다말에게 고하여 이르기를, 보라, 네 시아버지가 자기 양들의 털을 깎으려고 딤낫으로 올라간다, 하므로

14. 14 she took off her widows clothes, covered herself with a veil to disguise herself, and then sat down at the entrance to Enaim, which is on the road to Timnah. For she saw that, though Shelah had now grown up, she had not been given to him as his wife.

    14 그녀가 자기의 과부 옷을 벗은 뒤 베일로 몸을 가린 채 몸을 감싸고 딤낫으로 가는 길 곁의 트인 곳에 앉았으니 이는 셀라가 장성하였음을 그녀가 보았는데도 유다가 그녀를 그에게 아내로 주지 아니하였기 때문이더라.

15. 15 When Judah saw her, he thought she was a prostitute, for she had covered her face.

    15 그녀가 자기 얼굴을 가렸으므로 유다가 그녀를 본 뒤 그녀를 창녀로 생각하고

16. 16 Not realizing that she was his daughter-in-law, he went over to her by the roadside and said, "Come now, let me sleep with you." "And what will you give me to sleep with you?" she asked.

    16 길 곁의 그녀에게로 돌아서서 이르되, 자, 원하건대 내가 네게로 들어가게 하라, 하였으니 (이는 그녀가 자기 며느리인 줄 그가 알지 못하였기 때문이더라.) 그녀가 이르되, 당신이 내게 무엇을 주고 내게로 들어오려 하나이까? 하므로

17. 17 "Ill send you a young goat from my flock," he said. "Will you give me something as a pledge until you send it?" she asked.

    17 그가 이르되, 내가 양과 염소 떼에서 염소 새끼를 네게 보내리라, 하매 그녀가 이르되, 당신이 그것을 보낼 때까지 내게 담보물을 주겠나이까? 하니

18. 18 He said, "What pledge should I give you?" "Your seal and its cord, and the staff in your hand," she answered. So he gave them to her and slept with her, and she became pregnant by him.

    18 그가 이르되, 내가 네게 무슨 담보물을 주랴? 하매 그녀가 이르되, 당신의 도장과 팔찌들과 당신 손에 있는 지팡이를 주소서, 하므로 그가 담보물을 그녀에게 주고 그녀에게로 들어가매 그녀가 그로 말미암아 수태하였더라.

19. 19 After she left, she took off her veil and put on her widows clothes again.

    19 그녀가 일어나서 떠나간 뒤 자기 베일을 벗어 곁에 두고 자기의 과부 옷을 입었더라.

20. 20 Meanwhile Judah sent the young goat by his friend the Adullamite in order to get his pledge back from the woman, but he did not find her.

    20 유다가 자기 친구 아둘람 사람의 손을 통해 염소 새끼를 보내어 그 여인의 손에서 담보물을 받으려 하였으나 그가 그녀를 찾지 못하였으므로

21. 21 He asked the men who lived there, "Where is the shrine prostitute who was beside the road at Enaim?" "There hasnt been any shrine prostitute here," they said.

    21 이에 그가 그곳 사람들에게 물어 이르되, 길가에 드러내 놓고 있던 그 창녀가 어디에 있느냐? 하니 그들이 이르되, 이곳에는 창녀가 없었느니라, 하매

22. 22 So he went back to Judah and said, "I didnt find her. Besides, the men who lived there said, There hasnt been any shrine prostitute here."

    22 그가 유다에게 돌아와 이르되, 내가 그녀를 찾을 수 없고 그곳 사람들도 말하기를, 이곳에는 창녀가 없었느니라, 하더라, 하니

23. 23 Then Judah said, "Let her keep what she has, or we will become a laughingstock. After all, I did send her this young goat, but you didnt find her."

    23 유다가 이르되, 그녀가 그것을 갖게 하라. 우리가 수치를 당할까 염려하노라. 보라, 내가 이 염소 새끼를 보내었으나 그대가 그녀를 찾지 못하였느니라, 하니라.

24. 24 About three months later Judah was told, "Your daughter-in-law Tamar is guilty of prostitution, and as a result she is now pregnant." Judah said, "Bring her out and have her burned to death!"

    24 ¶ 석 달쯤 뒤에 어떤 이가 유다에게 고하여 이르되, 네 며느리 다말이 창녀 짓을 행하였고 또한, 보라, 그녀가 행음하여 아이를 배었느니라, 하니 유다가 이르되, 그녀를 끌어내어 불태우라, 하매

25. 25 As she was being brought out, she sent a message to her father-in-law. "I am pregnant by the man who owns these," she said. And she added, "See if you recognize whose seal and cord and staff these are."

    25 그녀가 끌려서 나갈 때에 자기 시아버지에게 사람을 보내어 이르되, 이 물건들의 임자로 말미암아 내가 아이를 배었나이다, 하고 또 이르기를, 원하건대 이 도장과 팔찌들과 지팡이가 누구의 것인지 식별해 주소서, 하니

26. 26 Judah recognized them and said, "She is more righteous than I, since I wouldnt give her to my son Shelah." And he did not sleep with her again.

    26 유다가 그것들을 알아보고 이르되, 그녀가 나보다 더 의로웠도다. 이는 내가 그녀를 내 아들 셀라에게 주지 아니하였기 때문이라, 하고 그 뒤로는 그녀를 다시 알지 아니하였더라.

27. 27 When the time came for her to give birth, there were twin boys in her womb.

    27 ¶ 그녀가 해산할 때가 되었는데, 보라, 그녀의 태에 쌍둥이가 있더라.

28. 28 As she was giving birth, one of them put out his hand; so the midwife took a scarlet thread and tied it on his wrist and said, "This one came out first."

    28 그녀가 해산할 때에 한 아이가 자기 손을 내밀매 산파가 이르되, 이 아이가 먼저 나왔다, 하고 그의 손을 잡아 주홍색 실을 그의 손에 묶었는데

29. 29 But when he drew back his hand, his brother came out, and she said, "So this is how you have broken out!" And he was named Perez.

    29 그가 자기 손을 도로 넣으매, 보라, 그의 형제가 나오므로 그녀가 이르되, 네가 어찌 터져 나왔느냐? 이 터져 나옴이 네게 있으리라, 하였으므로 사람들이 그의 이름을 베레스라 하였고

30. 30 Then his brother, who had the scarlet thread on his wrist, came out and he was given the name Zerah.

    30 그의 형제 곧 손에 주홍색 실이 있는 자가 뒤에 나오니 사람들이 그의 이름을 세라라 하였더라.
