창세기 44장 [킹제임스]

1. 1 Now Joseph gave these instructions to the steward of his house: "Fill the mens sacks with as much food as they can carry, and put each mans silver in the mouth of his sack.

   1 요셉이 자기 집 청지기에게 명령하여 이르되, 그 사람들이 가지고 갈 수 있을 만큼의 양식을 그들의 자루에 채우고 각 사람의 돈을 각 사람의 자루 아가리에 넣으며

2. 2 Then put my cup, the silver one, in the mouth of the youngest ones sack, along with the silver for his grain." And he did as Joseph said.

   2 또 내 잔 곧 은잔을 가장 나이 어린 자의 자루 아가리에 넣고 그의 곡식 값도 넣으라, 하니 그가 요셉이 한 말대로 하고

3. 3 As morning dawned, the men were sent on their way with their donkeys.

   3 아침이 밝자 곧바로 그 사람들과 그들의 나귀들을 보내니라.

4. 4 They had not gone far from the city when Joseph said to his steward, "Go after those men at once, and when you catch up with them, say to them, Why have you repaid good with evil?

   4 그들이 그 도시에서 나가 아직 멀리 가기 전에 요셉이 자기 청지기에게 이르되, 일어나서 그 사람들의 뒤를 따라가 그들을 따라잡고 그들에게 이르기를, 너희가 어찌하여 선을 악으로 갚느냐?

5. 5 Isnt this the cup my master drinks from and also uses for divination? This is a wicked thing you have done."

   5 이것은 내 주인이 가지고 마시며 참으로 점치는 데 쓰는 것이 아니냐? 너희가 이렇게 하여 악을 행하였도다, 하라, 하므로

6. 6 When he caught up with them, he repeated these words to them.

   6 ¶ 그가 그들을 따라잡고 그들에게 이 말들을 그대로 하니

7. 7 But they said to him, "Why does my lord say such things? Far be it from your servants to do anything like that!

   7 그들이 그에게 이르되, 내 주께서 어찌하여 이런 말씀을 하시나이까? 당신의 종들은 결코 이런 일 같은 것을 하지 아니하나이다.

8. 8 We even brought back to you from the land of Canaan the silver we found inside the mouths of our sacks. So why would we steal silver or gold from your masters house?

   8 보소서, 우리 자루의 아가리에서 발견된 돈도 우리가 가나안 땅에서부터 당신에게 다시 가져왔는데 우리가 어찌 당신 주인의 집에서 은이나 금을 도둑질하리이까?

9. 9 If any of your servants is found to have it, he will die; and the rest of us will become my lords slaves."

   9 당신의 종들 중 누구에게서 그것이 발견되든지 그는 죽을 것이요, 우리도 내 주의 노예가 되리이다, 하매

10. 10 "Very well, then," he said, "let it be as you say. Whoever is found to have it will become my slave; the rest of you will be free from blame."

    10 그가 이르되, 이제 또한 그 일이 너희 말대로 될 것이니라. 누구에게서 그것이 발견되든지 그는 내 종이 될 것이요, 너희는 책임을 면하리라, 하니라.

11. 11 Each of them quickly lowered his sack to the ground and opened it.

    11 이에 그들이 각각 급히 자기 자루를 땅바닥에 내려놓고 각각 자기 자루를 푸니

12. 12 Then the steward proceeded to search, beginning with the oldest and ending with the youngest. And the cup was found in Benjamins sack.

    12 그가 뒤지며 가장 나이 많은 자부터 시작하여 가장 나이 어린 자 앞에서 멈추었는데 그 잔이 베냐민의 자루에서 발견되었으므로

13. 13 At this, they tore their clothes. Then they all loaded their donkeys and returned to the city.

    13 이에 그들이 자기 옷을 찢고 각각 자기 짐을 나귀에 실은 뒤 그 도시로 돌아오니라.

14. 14 Joseph was still in the house when Judah and his brothers came in, and they threw themselves to the ground before him.

    14 ¶ 요셉이 아직 자기 집에 있었으므로 유다와 그의 형제들이 거기로 가서 요셉 앞에서 땅바닥에 엎드리니

15. 15 Joseph said to them, "What is this you have done? Dont you know that a man like me can find things out by divination?"

    15 요셉이 그들에게 이르되, 너희가 행한 이것이 무슨 일이냐? 나 같은 사람이 확실히 점칠 수 있는 줄을 너희가 알지 못하느냐? 하매

16. 16 "What can we say to my lord?" Judah replied. "What can we say? How can we prove our innocence? God has uncovered your servants guilt. We are now my lords slaves--we ourselves and the one who was found to have the cup."

    16 유다가 이르되, 우리가 내 주께 무슨 말을 하리이까? 무어라 고하리이까? 혹은 어떻게 우리의 깨끗함을 보이리이까? 하나님께서 주의 종들의 불법을 찾아내셨으니, 보소서, 우리와 또한 이 잔이 발견된 자가 다 내 주의 종이 되었나이다, 하매

17. 17 But Joseph said, "Far be it from me to do such a thing! Only the man who was found to have the cup will become my slave. The rest of you, go back to your father in peace."

    17 그가 이르되, 내가 결코 그렇게 하지 아니하리라. 손에서 이 잔이 발견된 그 사람만 내 종이 될 것이며 너희에 관한 한 너희는 평안히 너희 아버지께 올라가라, 하니라.

18. 18 Then Judah went up to him and said: "Please, my lord, let your servant speak a word to my lord. Do not be angry with your servant, though you are equal to Pharaoh himself.

    18 ¶ 그때에 유다가 그에게 가까이 가서 이르되, 오 내 주여, 원하건대 주의 종이 내 주의 귀에 한 말씀을 고하게 하소서. 주의 종에게 분노하지 마옵소서. 주께서는 파라오와 꼭 같으시니이다.

19. 19 My lord asked his servants, Do you have a father or a brother?

    19 내 주께서 자신의 종들에게 물어 이르시되, 너희에게 아버지가 있느냐? 혹은 동생이 있느냐? 하시기에

20. 20 And we answered, We have an aged father, and there is a young son born to him in his old age. His brother is dead, and he is the only one of his mothers sons left, and his father loves him.

    20 우리가 내 주께 이르되, 우리에게 노인인 아버지가 계시며 또 그의 노년에 얻은 아이 곧 어린것이 있는데 그의 형은 죽었고 그의 어머니가 남긴 자식은 단지 그뿐이므로 그의 아버지가 그를 사랑하나이다, 하였더니

21. 21 "Then you said to your servants, Bring him down to me so I can see him for myself.

    21 주께서 주의 종들에게 이르시되, 그를 내게 데리고 내려와 내가 내 눈으로 그를 보게 하라, 하셨으므로

22. 22 And we said to my lord, The boy cannot leave his father; if he leaves him, his father will die.

    22 우리가 내 주께 이르되, 그 아이는 자기 아버지를 떠날 수 없나이다. 그가 그의 아버지를 떠나면 그의 아버지가 죽으리이다, 하였나이다.

23. 23 But you told your servants, Unless your youngest brother comes down with you, you will not see my face again.

    23 또 주께서 주의 종들에게 이르시되, 너희 막냇동생이 너희와 함께 내려오지 아니하면 너희가 다시는 내 얼굴을 보지 못하리라, 하시기에

24. 24 When we went back to your servant my father, we told him what my lord had said.

    24 우리가 주의 종 내 아버지에게 올라가 내 주의 말씀을 그분에게 고하였나이다.

25. 25 "Then our father said, Go back and buy a little more food.

    25 그 뒤에 우리 아버지께서 이르시되, 다시 가서 우리를 위해 양식을 조금 사 오라, 하시기에

26. 26 But we said, We cannot go down. Only if our youngest brother is with us will we go. We cannot see the mans face unless our youngest brother is with us.

    26 우리가 이르되, 우리가 내려갈 수 없나이다. 우리 막냇동생이 우리와 함께하면 우리가 내려가리니 이는 우리 막냇동생이 우리와 함께하지 아니하면 우리가 그 사람의 얼굴을 볼 수 없기 때문이니이다, 하매

27. 27 "Your servant my father said to us, You know that my wife bore me two sons.

    27 주의 종 내 아버지께서 우리에게 이르시되, 너희도 아는 바와 같이 내 아내가 내게 두 아들을 낳았으나

28. 28 One of them went away from me, and I said, "He has surely been torn to pieces." And I have not seen him since.

    28 하나는 내게서 떠나갔으므로 내가 말하기를, 분명히 그는 갈기갈기 찢겼다, 하였고 그 이후로 그를 보지 못하였노라.

29. 29 If you take this one from me too and harm comes to him, you will bring my gray head down to the grave in misery.

    29 만일 너희가 이 아이도 내게서 데려갔다가 악한 일이 그에게 생기면 너희가 내 흰머리를 슬픔과 함께 무덤으로 떨어뜨리리라, 하셨나이다.

30. 30 "So now, if the boy is not with us when I go back to your servant my father and if my father, whose life is closely bound up with the boys life,

    30 그러므로 이제 내가 주의 종 내 아버지에게 갈 때에 그 아이가 우리와 함께하지 아니하면 아버지의 생명과 그 아이의 생명이 묶여 있으므로

31. 31 sees that the boy isnt there, he will die. Your servants will bring the gray head of our father down to the grave in sorrow.

    31 그 아이가 우리와 함께하지 아니함을 아버지께서 보시고 죽으시리니 그러면 주의 종들이 주의 종 우리 아버지의 흰머리를 슬픔과 함께 무덤으로 떨어뜨리리이다.

32. 32 Your servant guaranteed the boys safety to my father. I said, If I do not bring him back to you, I will bear the blame before you, my father, all my life!

    32 주의 종이 그 아이를 위해 내 아버지에게 보증인이 되어 말하기를, 내가 그를 아버지께 데리고 돌아오지 아니하면 내 아버지께 내가 영원토록 죄에 대한 책임을 지리이다, 하였사오니

33. 33 "Now then, please let your servant remain here as my lords slave in place of the boy, and let the boy return with his brothers.

    33 그러므로 이제 원하건대 주의 종이 그 아이를 대신하여 내 주의 노예로 남게 하시고 그 아이는 그의 형제들과 함께 올라가게 하소서.

34. 34 How can I go back to my father if the boy is not with me? No! Do not let me see the misery that would come upon my father."

    34 그 아이가 나와 함께하지 않는데 내가 어떻게 내 아버지에게 올라갈 수 있으리이까? 내 아버지에게 닥칠 해악을 혹시 내가 볼까 염려하나이다, 하였더라.
