출애굽기 17장 [킹제임스]

1. 1 The whole Israelite community set out from the Desert of Sin, traveling from place to place as the LORD commanded. They camped at Rephidim, but there was no water for the people to drink.

   1 이스라엘 자손 온 회중이 주의 명령에 따라 신 광야에서 떠나 자기들의 여정대로 이동하여 르비딤에 장막을 쳤으나 백성이 마실 물이 없었으므로

2. 2 So they quarreled with Moses and said, "Give us water to drink." Moses replied, "Why do you quarrel with me? Why do you put the LORD to the test?"

   2 백성이 모세와 다투며 이르되, 우리에게 물을 주어 우리가 마시게 하라, 하니 모세가 그들에게 이르되, 너희가 어찌하여 나와 다투느냐? 너희가 어찌하여 주를 시험하느냐? 하니라.

3. 3 But the people were thirsty for water there, and they grumbled against Moses. They said, "Why did you bring us up out of Egypt to make us and our children and livestock die of thirst?"

   3 거기서 백성이 목말라 물을 찾으며 백성이 모세에게 불평하여 이르되, 어찌하여 당신이 이렇게 우리를 이집트에서 데리고 올라와 우리와 우리 자식들과 우리 가축이 목말라 죽게 하느냐? 하니

4. 4 Then Moses cried out to the LORD, "What am I to do with these people? They are almost ready to stone me."

   4 모세가 주께 부르짖어 이르되, 내가 이 백성에게 무엇을 하리이까? 그들이 곧 내게 돌을 던지려 하나이다, 하매

5. 5 The LORD answered Moses, "Walk on ahead of the people. Take with you some of the elders of Israel and take in your hand the staff with which you struck the Nile, and go.

   5 주께서 모세에게 이르시되, 백성 앞을 지나서 이스라엘 장로들을 데리고 가되 네가 강을 칠 때 쓰던 네 막대기를 네 손에 잡고 가라.

6. 6 I will stand there before you by the rock at Horeb. Strike the rock, and water will come out of it for the people to drink." So Moses did this in the sight of the elders of Israel.

   6 보라, 내가 거기서 호렙에 있는 반석 위에서 네 앞에 서리니 너는 그 반석을 치라. 그 반석에서 물이 나오리니 백성이 마시리라, 하시매 모세가 이스라엘 장로들 눈앞에서 그대로 행하니라.

7. 7 And he called the place Massah and Meribah because the Israelites quarreled and because they tested the LORD saying, "Is the LORD among us or not?"

   7 그가 그곳의 이름을 맛사와 므리바라 하였으니 그 까닭은 이스라엘 자손의 다툼 때문이요, 또한 그들이 주를 시험하여 이르기를, 주께서 우리 가운데 계신가, 아니 계신가? 하였기 때문이더라.

8. 8 The Amalekites came and attacked the Israelites at Rephidim.

   8 ¶ 그때에 아말렉이 와서 르비딤에서 이스라엘과 싸우니라.

9. 9 Moses said to Joshua, "Choose some of our men and go out to fight the Amalekites. Tomorrow I will stand on top of the hill with the staff of God in my hands."

   9 모세가 여호수아에게 이르되, 우리를 위해 사람들을 택하고 나가서 아말렉과 싸우라. 내일 내가 하나님의 막대기를 내 손에 잡고 산꼭대기에 서리라, 하매

10. 10 So Joshua fought the Amalekites as Moses had ordered, and Moses, Aaron and Hur went to the top of the hill.

    10 여호수아가 모세가 자기에게 말한 대로 행하여 아말렉과 싸웠고 모세와 아론과 훌은 산꼭대기로 올라갔는데

11. 11 As long as Moses held up his hands, the Israelites were winning, but whenever he lowered his hands, the Amalekites were winning.

    11 모세가 손을 들면 이스라엘이 이기고 그가 손을 내리면 아말렉이 이겼더라.

12. 12 When Moses hands grew tired, they took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it. Aaron and Hur held his hands up--one on one side, one on the other--so that his hands remained steady till sunset.

    12 그러나 모세의 손이 무거워지매 그들이 돌을 가져다가 그의 밑에 놓아 그가 그 위에 앉게 하고 아론과 훌이 하나는 이쪽에서 다른 하나는 저쪽에서 그의 손을 들어 멈추게 하였더니 그의 손이 해가 질 때까지 고정되어 있더라.

13. 13 So Joshua overcame the Amalekite army with the sword.

    13 여호수아가 칼날로 아말렉과 그의 백성을 무찌르니라.

14. 14 Then the LORD said to Moses, "Write this on a scroll as something to be remembered and make sure that Joshua hears it, because I will completely blot out the memory of Amalek from under heaven."

    14 주께서 모세에게 이르시되, 이것을 책에 기록하여 기념물로 삼고 여호수아의 귀에 그것을 되풀이하여 말하라. 내가 하늘 아래에서 아말렉에 대한 기억을 철저히 없애리라, 하시니라.

15. 15 Moses built an altar and called it The LORD is my Banner.

    15 모세가 제단을 쌓고 그것의 이름을 여호와닛시라 하였으니

16. 16 He said, "For hands were lifted up to the throne of the LORD. The LORD will be at war against the Amalekites from generation to generation."

    16 이는 그가 이르기를, 주께서 아말렉과 대대로 전쟁을 벌이시겠다고 주께서 맹세하셨도다, 하였기 때문이더라.
