1. 1 This is the written account of Adams line. When God created man, he made him in the likeness of God.

   1 This is the book of the generations of Adam. When God created man, he made him in the likeness of God.

2. 2 He created them male and female and blessed them. And when they were created, he called them "man."

   2 Male and female he created them, and he blessed them and named them Man when they were created.

3. 3 When Adam had lived 130 years, he had a son in his own likeness, in his own image; and he named him Seth.

   3 When Adam had lived a hundred and thirty years, he became the father of a son in his own likeness, after his image, and named him Seth.

4. 4 After Seth was born, Adam lived 800 years and had other sons and daughters.

   4 The days of Adam after he became the father of Seth were eight hundred years; and he had other sons and daughters.

5. 5 Altogether, Adam lived 930 years, and then he died.

   5 Thus all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years; and he died.

6. 6 When Seth had lived 105 years, he became the father of Enosh.

   6 When Seth had lived a hundred and five years, he became the father of Enosh.

7. 7 And after he became the father of Enosh, Seth lived 807 years and had other sons and daughters.

   7 Seth lived after the birth of Enosh eight hundred and seven years, and had other sons and daughters.

8. 8 Altogether, Seth lived 912 years, and then he died.

   8 Thus all the days of Seth were nine hundred and twelve years; and he died.

9. 9 When Enosh had lived 90 years, he became the father of Kenan.

   9 When Enosh had lived ninety years, he became the father of Kenan.

10. 10 And after he became the father of Kenan, Enosh lived 815 years and had other sons and daughters.

    10 Enosh lived after the birth of Kenan eight hundred and fifteen years, and had other sons and daughters.

11. 11 Altogether, Enosh lived 905 years, and then he died.

    11 Thus all the days of Enosh were nine hundred and five years; and he died.

12. 12 When Kenan had lived 70 years, he became the father of Mahalalel.

    12 When Kenan had lived seventy years, he became the father of Ma-halalel.

13. 13 And after he became the father of Mahalalel, Kenan lived 840 years and had other sons and daughters.

    13 Kenan lived after the birth of Ma-halalel eight hundred and forty years, and had other sons and daughters.

14. 14 Altogether, Kenan lived 910 years, and then he died.

    14 Thus all the days of Kenan were nine hundred and ten years; and he died.

15. 15 When Mahalalel had lived 65 years, he became the father of Jared.

    15 When Ma-halalel had lived sixty-five years, he became the father of Jared.

16. 16 And after he became the father of Jared, Mahalalel lived 830 years and had other sons and daughters.

    16 Ma-halalel lived after the birth of Jared eight hundred and thirty years, and had other sons and daughters.

17. 17 Altogether, Mahalalel lived 895 years, and then he died.

    17 Thus all the days of Ma-halalel were eight hundred and ninety-five years; and he died.

18. 18 When Jared had lived 162 years, he became the father of Enoch.

    18 When Jared had lived a hundred and sixty-two years he became the father of Enoch.

19. 19 And after he became the father of Enoch, Jared lived 800 years and had other sons and daughters.

    19 Jared lived after the birth of Enoch eight hundred years, and had other sons and daughters.

20. 20 Altogether, Jared lived 962 years, and then he died.

    20 Thus all the days of Jared were nine hundred and sixty-two years; and he died.

21. 21 When Enoch had lived 65 years, he became the father of Methuselah.

    21 When Enoch had lived sixty-five years, he became the father of Methuselah.

22. 22 And after he became the father of Methuselah, Enoch walked with God 300 years and had other sons and daughters.

    22 Enoch walked with God after the birth of Methuselah three hundred years, and had other sons and daughters.

23. 23 Altogether, Enoch lived 365 years.

    23 Thus all the days of Enoch were three hundred and sixty-five years.

24. 24 Enoch walked with God; then he was no more, because God took him away.

    24 Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him.

25. 25 When Methuselah had lived 187 years, he became the father of Lamech.

    25 When Methuselah had lived a hundred and eighty-seven years, he became the father of Lamech.

26. 26 And after he became the father of Lamech, Methuselah lived 782 years and had other sons and daughters.

    26 Methuselah lived after the birth of Lamech seven hundred and eighty-two years, and had other sons and daughters.

27. 27 Altogether, Methuselah lived 969 years, and then he died.

    27 Thus all the days of Methuselah were nine hundred and sixty-nine years; and he died.

28. 28 When Lamech had lived 182 years, he had a son.

    28 When Lamech had lived a hundred and eighty-two years, he became the father of a son,

29. 29 He named him Noah and said, "He will comfort us in the labor and painful toil of our hands caused by the ground the LORD has cursed."

    29 and called his name Noah, saying, "Out of the ground which the LORD has cursed this one shall bring us relief from our work and from the toil of our hands."

30. 30 After Noah was born, Lamech lived 595 years and had other sons and daughters.

    30 Lamech lived after the birth of Noah five hundred and ninety-five years, and had other sons and daughters.

31. 31 Altogether, Lamech lived 777 years, and then he died.

    31 Thus all the days of Lamech were seven hundred and seventy-seven years; and he died.

32. 32 After Noah was 500 years old, he became the father of Shem, Ham and Japheth.

    32 After Noah was five hundred years old, Noah became the father of Shem, Ham, and Japheth.
